HOW TO IMPROVE HOSE LIFE AND PERFORMANCE

Using the following guidelines will significantly enhance the longevity and efficiency of your hose:

  • Use the correct hose for the job. PAGE offers a variety of hoses, which are suited for a wide range of applications. Review product specs and requirements closely, or contact your PAGE Sales Rep for assistance.
  • Use a hose that is the correct length for the application.
  • Keep the hose out of high traffic areas.
  • Inspect the hose before each use. This is especially important in critical applications. Inspect for damaged couplings, kinking, cover perforations, soft spots, or any other signs of damage. Replace damaged hoses immediately.
  • Drain and clean the hose after each use.
  • When storing hoses, keep them in a cool, dry location and off the ground. Hoses should be stored away from direct sunlight.
  • Regularly pressure test your hoses. Pressure test each hose at 150% of its working pressure. Monthly testing is recommended for continuous service; quarterly for normal service; and annually for light service. Testing intervals will vary depending upon the frequency and critical nature of the application.

WHAT TO AVOID

The following will significantly reduce the life and performance of your hose:

  • Using hoses that were not designed for the materials they are transferring.
  • Exceeding a hoses working temperature or pressure
  • leaving product trapped in the hose for extended periods of time.
  • Exceeding the hoses minimum bend radius.
  • Not using the correct end fittings or proper adapters.
  • Dragging the hose over rough surfaces.
